Tiniba® 500 contains tinidazole, a nitroimidazole antimicrobial agent. After activation within susceptible microorganisms, tinidazole produces reactive intermediates that damage microbial DNA and interfere with nucleic-acid synthesis, leading to death of susceptible organisms.

Tinidazole is used for specific infections caused by susceptible protozoa and anaerobic bacteria, including giardiasis, amebiasis, trichomoniasis, and certain anaerobic bacterial infections. The appropriate indication, dose, and duration depend on the infection and individual patient factors.
