Lipril® 10 contains lisinopril, an ACE inhibitor that works by reducing the formation of angiotensin II, a substance that causes blood vessels to constrict. This allows blood vessels to relax and widen, helping lower blood pressure and improving the heart's ability to pump blood.
Lisinopril is commonly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. It may also be used in selected patients following myocardial infarction and for certain patients who may benefit from the kidney-protective effects of ACE-inhibitor therapy.
Because ACE inhibitors can affect blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels, treatment should be individualized and appropriately monitored. Treatment decisions, dosage adjustments, and duration of therapy should always be determined by a qualified healthcare professional.
